I was lucky enough to grab a place at the press preview slot before the doors opened to the public which was fantastic as it allowed me to gather an abundance of features, news and interviews to give you all.

This years Ideal Home show certainly showed consumers that it’s 103rd event was perfectly up to date with the most current trends and topics within interior design and architecture. Eco-friendly and sustainable interiors were a huge focus this year, with Linda Barker demonstrating how-to seminars about up-cycling and architect George Clarke, refurbishing Ken and Deirdre Barlow‘s Coronation Street house into a sustainable retreat. There’s no doubt this green theme has grown from the current economic state of the country, as people start to tighten their belts any means of saving the pennies will be popular. Continue reading

1 Jul

At twenty-three years of age, Kellie Hill has thrown herself into the world of journalism, PR and Marketing and all her hard work has finally paid off. The confident young professional has clinched the deal with YOUR COMPANY.

Storming her way through a rigorous application process, she wowed employers who saw her as a breath of fresh air.

Within the short space of moving to London into Retail PR & Marketing, Kellie has established herself as a forward-thinker with a pro-active approach that has attracted the attention of big names in the retail and fashion industry.

She has helped a number of clients and employers to develop and run successful online marketing plans as well as finding the time to run her fashion, art and design blog Couch Design News, which in it’s short lifespan hits nearly 1000 views per month.

Kellie’s potential has always shone through. Whilst studying Broadcast Journalism at Staffordshire University, she was appointed as a reporter for the universities’ online news site, StaffsLive. She reported live from the BNP 2010 manifesto launch in Stoke-on-Trent, captured exclusive back stage interviews with rising music stars Kid British and King Blues and covered the 2010 general election for the BBC.

Kellie’s love fashion world was always been her driving force to succeed even before she stepped into the industry aged 17.  She used her retail experience and natural leadership skills to manage a team of journalists for the coverage of Staffordshire University’s Annual Diversity Fashion Show two years in a row and reported live from the Clothes Show Birmingham 2009/2010.

But she didn’t stop there. Kellie’s ability to communicate effectively through her writing, caught the eye of respected Interior Design school of excellence, the National Design Academy in Nottingham. Taking on the role as PR Executive in 2010, her fresh ideas and organisation skills enabled Kellie to successfully widen the Academy’s outreach.

She combined various social media accounts like Twitter, Facebook, Flickr and blogs to communicate with students more effectively, as well as creating short promotion video’s and monthly newsletters, reviewing large design events and building industry links with the likes of Decorex, Ideal Home Show and the British Institute of Interior Designers (BIID).

Nick-named The Blog Queen, Kellie used her lively writing skills to build a successful blog named The Design Hub. The blog gained recognition from designers across the world, a loyal readership base and has been approached by the Ideal Home Show, Grand Designs, MyDeco and New Designers. The Design hub was also short-listed for the Decorex Loves Blogger’s campaign in June and in the ten months she was Editor it’s reached over 34,000 hits!

In an interview, Kellie was delighted with the good news and is excited to get started, ”I’m thrilled with the news of this fantastic opportunity to work for such a highly respected name and develop my skills even more so I can keep on progressing. The knowledge I’ve already gained from working in fashion since I was seventeen, training as a journalist as well as PR and Marketing, will be extremely useful. But it’s only the start. I’m very keen to get stuck in and be a fine ambassador.”

She added, working as multi-media blogger, is like being a one man band, you have to research, write, shoot, edit, publish or present an interesting story that keeps readers coming back. But it’s a challenge that I thoroughly enjoy and one that allows me to develop and pass on my experiences to others.”

Having trained as journalist and delving into the world of Public Relations and Marketing, Kellie has developed a vast range of skills, which makes her adaptable and perfect for this job role. She has a natural talent in building strong relationships with her colleagues and infecting them with her positivism.

Kellie has a confident understanding of what elements are needed to communicate quickly and concisely to a particular audience through a variety of writing styles, social media, presentations and publications. Kellie is a rare investment and will take up any challenge to prove so.
